Here's a new commercial

gold medalists' Kobe Bryant and Michael Phelps:
Training
Camp Begins
October
1, 2008
Training
camp for the upcoming season began Monday as the Lakers came
together for the first time since the Finals. Andrew Bynum
is back and "100 percent."
Kobe and Pau Gasol had a full month of rest after they both
competed in the Gold Medal game in the Olympics.
For once, there's a positive atmosphere at the start of
training camp this season, with no distractions of trade
rumors or hostility. The only problem worth noting is Lamar
Odom's upcoming role this season, with the possibility of
him losing his starting job to Trevor Ariza.
Sasha Vujacic sprained his ankle at Tuesday's practice. It's
reported to be minor and Sasha feels he can get back on the
court within a few days.
After
injuring his right pinkie finger back in February of this
year that required surgery, Kobe has decided to start next
season in the same condition. Kobe will not undergo surgery
on his injured right pinkie because of a possible 12-week
recovery time. Kobe played the playoffs and Olympics with
the same injured pinkie, so it shouldn't be a problem.
However, his shot seemed shaky at times and it is risky if
he re-injures the area. But Kobe knows himself better than
any doctor so hopefully he has made the right decision.

Team Brings Back Gold!
September 3, 2008
Team
USA's road to redemption is complete as Kobe Bryant led Team
USA to a close victory over Spain to recapture the gold
medal after an 8 year drought. Kobe was clutched in the 4th,
scoring 13 points in the quarter. Team USA faced their first
close game of the series, as their lead was cut to 2 points
at the beginning of the final quarter. Of course, USA's
speed and defensive pressure was too much for Spain at the
end as they were able to defeat Spain and capture gold at
the Olympics for the first time since the Sydney 2000
Olympics.

Hurts (2008 NBA Finals)
June 6, 2008
The
Lakers failed to steal one at Boston in Game 1 of the NBA
Finals. LA was in it through out the game, and led by 4
points when Paul Pierce left briefly after his knee injury.
P-Squared would make a dramatic debut that boosted Boston
and its crowd and LA could not recover. Lakers hope to tie
the series this Sunday during Game 2 before playing the next
3 games in Los Angeles.
Jazz
Tuned Out (NBA Playoffs '08 2nd Round)
May 19, 2008
The
Lakers have advanced to the West Finals for the first time
since 2004. With a balance offensive attack, led by Kobe's
34 points, LA defeated the Utah Jazz in Game 6 in the
hostile Energy Solutions Arena. It was only the 6th time
Utah has lost at home all season, including the playoffs
(the Lakers won 2 of the 6). Lakers will now await the
winner of the New Orleans Hornets - San Antonio Spurs
series. Game 7 of that series will be played Monday, and
Game 1 of the West Finals will begin on Wednesday in Staples
Center at 6, on TNT.
Lakers
Have Kobe's Back (NBA Playoffs '08 2nd Round)
May 15, 2008
With
Kobe limited during Game 5 because of his "back injury," the
Lakers other all-star caliber players stepped up for him in
the 4th to give the Lakers a victory and a 3-2 series lead.
Lakers hope to close it out in Utah, which will not be an
easy task. Currently, teams in the semi-finals are 20-1 at
home. Let's hope the Lakers can break the tradition.
All Tied
Up at 2-2 (NBA Playoffs '08 2nd Round)
May 12, 2008
The
Lakers were able to send Game 4 into overtime after being
down by as much as 12 points with less than 4 minutes to go.
Derek Fisher hit 3 3-pointers and Lamar Odom scored the
tying basket to end regulation. However, the Lakers could
not capitalize in the extra session, falling again in Utah.
Kobe finished with 33 points, 8 rebounds, 10 assists. He is
the first the first player in NBA history to have at least
25 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists in 5 straight playoff
games. Game 3 will be played on Wednesday, back at Staples
Center. Hopefully LA can win at home and close out the
series back in Utah.
Lakers
Take 1st Fall (NBA Playoffs '08 2nd Round)
May 10, 2008
The
Lakers took their first loss of the post season with a
104-99 defeat to the Utah Jazz at Energy Solutions Arena. It
was the first time the Lakers failed to score 100 points
this post season. Kobe led the team with 34 points. Pau
Gasol had one of his worst games of the post season with
just 12 points, 5 turnovers. Gasol did not seem to be able
to match up with Utah's physical play and continually got
stripped of the ball in the post. It's one thing when
they're physical with Carlos Boozer, but Mehmert Okur spent
the majority of the time guarding him. Hopefully Gasol can
bounce back with a better game on Sunday.
L.A.
Takes Game 1 (NBA Playoffs '08 2nd Round)
May 5, 2008
Soon-to-be-announced MVP Kobe Bryant led the Lakers to their
5th straight win in the post season, behind his 21-23 free
throw attempts. LA's crisp interior passing was still on
display, despite the much better defensive team in the Utah
Jazz. Lakers were up by as much as 19 in the 1st half, but
Utah was able to down the lead to 4 in the final quarter
before LA was finally able to pull away with Gasol scoring 8
points in the 4th. Game 2 will be this Wednesday (changed
from Tuesday), at Staples.
Sweep!
(NBA Playoffs '08 1st Round)
April 29, 2008
With several clutch baskets down the stretch, Kobe led the
Lakers to their 4th straight victory against Denver to
advance to the 2nd round for the first time since 2004, and
first series sweep since 2002. Kobe Bryant was deadly in the
final minutes of the 4th, hitting basket after basket and
quieting the Denver home crowd. The Lakers now await the
winner of the Utah-Houston series, with Utah ahead 3-1 and
looking to close it out on Tuesday. If they do, Game 1 of
the 2nd round will most likely begin Saturday at Staples
Center.
The 49er
(NBA Playoffs '08 1st Round)
April 24, 2008
With Gasol struggling to find his groove and Lamar Odom
limited because of foul trouble, Kobe kept the Lakers above
water by pouring in 49 points, 1 point shy of his career
playoff high. He also had 7 assists in the crucial third
quarter when Denver came back to take a 1 point lead. Kobe
was able to break Denver's zone defense and find the open
man and finish with a game high 10 assists, while Denver as
a whole finished with 12 assists. Game 3 will shift to
Denver, where the Lakers hope to take a commanding 3-0 lead,
in which no team has ever came back from. Tip-off is
Saturday at 2:30 PT.
Gasol
Good (NBA Playoffs '08 1st Round)
April 21, 2008
The
Lakers had a little struggle in the 2nd Quarter, trailing by
as much as 9 points, but finally got their act together to
bring the game out of reach in the third. In the end, the
Lakers' efficient interior passing helped give them a 1-0
lead in the 1st round series against the Denver Nuggets. Pau
Gasol played the star role usually occupied by Kobe this
time, putting up numbers haven't seen by a Laker since James
Worthy in '88. Kobe didn't shoot the ball too well, but
still ended with 30 points, and Lamar chipped in with 17
points and 14 rebounds. LA hopes to extend their series lead
to 2-0 this Wednesday.
Lakers
Finish On Top of West
April 16, 2008
The
Lakers clinched the top spot in the western conference with
a victory over Sacramento, and now have homecourt throughout
the conference playoffs. The Lakers await Wednesday's
results to find out if they will play Dallas or Denver in
the 1st Round. 4 slots in the western conference are still
up for debate on the last day of the regular season. The
Lakers will have an extended break, being 1 of only 2 teams
to finish the season Tuesday. Lakers will most likely play
their first game of the playoffs Sunday. L.A. is buzzing
once again. Dust off your car flags. Go Lakers.
Number
One Spot
April 14, 2008
The
Lakers finished off their most important weekend of the
season with two huge victories over the New Orleans Hornets
and the San Antonio Spurs. With New Orleans losing twice
over the weekend, the Lakers reclaimed the number one spot
in the western conference. LA and New Orleans have identical
records but LA holds the tie breaker and can clinch home
court advantage throughout the western conference playoffs
with a win on Tuesday, their final game of the regular
season
